Who we are

The Secondhand Market Report is an independent publication focused on the resale economy, estate sales, and secondhand retail across the United States.

Our reporting is grounded in firsthand sourcing, on-site visits, and direct market observation. We spend time in stores, at sales, fairs, and shows — and in conversation with buyers and sellers — to understand how the secondhand market is actually moving, region by region.

Field Reporters

Kara McLaughlin
Field Reporter — Colorado

Kara covers estate sales, vintage stores, and secondhand retail throughout Colorado, with additional coverage of antique book fairs and specialty book shows. Her reporting focuses on regional pricing trends, collector behavior, and how niche markets — particularly books and paper — intersect with the broader resale economy.

Cerys Cate
Field Reporter — Ohio

Cerys reports from Ohio, covering estate sales, thrift stores, and secondhand shops across the Midwest. Her work highlights local market dynamics, store-level detail, and how regional buying habits shape resale value.

We are a small team by design. That allows us to stay close to the ground, report with care, and remain flexible as the secondhand market continues to evolve.
